What can we do to create more interest in the fine arts in children under the age of 13 years old?

This article brings forth one of the major things wrong with our education system today. I am disappointed that when budgets are being cut the first place we look is the education system and this is foremost the biggest reason our children are not interested in the fine arts anymore. This is a shame! Many studies have linked postive things happen to children when they have access to fine arts in school. However with so many cuts many schools don't have these types programs for children. Parents have to take the initiative to sign their children up for a fine arts program through the community or with private lessons and often times parents either can't afford it or don't know the options that are out there.
